1. Read the text and find out.
What is adobe?
Adobe is building material that is made from sand, clay, water and organic material that is shaped into bricks and left to dry in the sun.
What is special about the house?
It's a beautifully designed, large adobe home with soft lines./ part of the house just out of the adobe shell and stretches to the end of a cliff.
Are the back and front of the house similar? How do you know?
No, they aren't. The front of the house that can be seen from the street is that of a large adobe home with a drive and a cactus tree at the entrance.
The back of the house has large windows and stretches to the end of the cliff.
What is part of the floor made of? Why?
Part of the floor is made of thick custom-designed glass to allow a unique view of the canyon below.

Which rooms does the writer mention?
A spacious room that stretches in all directions and the kitchen.
What can the writer see, smell, and feel in the house?
He can see: the door, large windows, sunlight streaming in, the street, the cliff, the kitchen, the wooden cabinets, the sitting area, a spectacular view, the gaping canyon smell: the most enticing smells of cumin and chilies and herbs.
Feel: the hard floor, the air whooshing past (he imagines this).

My house
Everyone has a house. They might be big or small. I am going to write about my house. We live in a three-room flat on the ground fllor.
There is a large digging hall, two bedrooms, kitchen and toilet. My father bought it ten years ago when I was four years old.
My parents believe in having a very small family, so we are four persons only for this reason It is really large enough for all of us.
Our house is built of bricks iron, tiles and marbles. The bathroom is also large and tiled.
The floor of our house is fully marbled. The kitchen of our house is also large and comfortable and it has two doors one of its door opens in a large balcony, from that balcony we have such a nice view of a park and playground. The dining room is also a large and decorated and painted attractively.
We own a tab recorder, a color TV. The table of the dining room is circular with a very comfortable chairs.
In the other balcony, we have many flowers and plants grown in the earthen pots, they include roses, jasmine, pagoda tree which they make our house more beautiful.
